About Alaoma Nigerian Cuisine
Caribbean Restaurant in Sheffield
Alaoma Nigerian Cuisine in Sheffield is a cozy little spot, tucked away but definitely worth seeking out. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly; it felt really welcoming. Looking through the photos online, I noticed the warm lighting and simple, clean décor – nothing fussy, just a nice, comfortable space to enjoy a meal.
Their menu features a good selection of classic Nigerian dishes. I saw plenty of hearty stews, flavorful jollof rice, and plantains were present in several dishes. One photo showed a perfectly plated plate of fried fish with a vibrant green sauce; that definitely looked tempting. I'd recommend checking out their specials board as they seemed to change daily.
What makes Alaoma special is the genuine warmth of the place and the obvious care that goes into the food. It's perfect for a casual weeknight dinner, a catch-up with friends, or even a low-key date. It's a great alternative to the usual, and the food is delicious and authentic, leaving you feeling well fed and happy.

I bought nkwobi, stew and egusi as takeaway here. The taste of the nkwobi brought me so close to home. Very tasty and spicy. The Uziza leaf and onions really complimented the taste. The stew also tasted nice and the egusi smells nice, although I am yet to taste it. Very courteous service by the girl over the counter as well. Smiled all through. I am satisfied with the food overall and good price. Just a shame I had to drive almost 5miles to pickup. Also you need to park at the back of the building but it’s just less than a minute walk to the restaurant. Hopefully one can order online soon. Def recommend 👌🏾
In an environment where it was difficult to get Nigerian food for less than £15 then Alaoma decided to bless the community. With £10.99 you can get a very decent takeaway and be guaranteed of enjoying yourself. There are even snacks for as low as £1. Want to know the best part? Go there on Sunday from 2pm. With £20 you get to serve yourself 😍.
Not very busy but the staff were lovely, we aren't experts on Nigerian food (other than Jollof Rice yum!) and they patiently talked us through the options including what vegetarian options are available. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced, for clarity, I would confirm that it's not just buffet, there is a menu that you can order from as individual plates.
Jellof rice was great and came in a very large portion, but the moimoi portion was not good at all. The eba was of great portion, but the afang was a no for me as an Akwa-Cross brought up. The grilled chicken and turkey were really good. However, the customer service could be better as the staff manning the reception on the day of our visit didn't have a smile at all that helps to put customers at ease or feel welcomed to even communicate with her. As a result, I felt I would be disturbing her to even remind her of the drinks and water that we ordered which were never provided throughout the more than 30 minutes that we had to wait for our food, and even after half way into our meals. I just sat and observed to see if she'd notice or remember, but she just didn't. Luckily, I came with my bottle, so my kids were drinking from it while eating spicy food and waiting for their drinks. In the end, we had to reject some drinks (including food order due to the long wait) as she brought them only after I reminded her. I appreciate the lady who came out from the kitchen to check on guests and enquired to ensure they were comfortable and enjoyed their meals. She had a lovely smile, which allowed us to end our dinner experience in a lighter mood. Just to add, they also offer takeaways for unfinished meals as my kids couldn't finish their food, and we made a takeaway order as well while dining in. Regardless, I will recommend Alaoma cuisine to anyone as their food and portion is great. The customer service can easily be fixed. Thanks to the Alaoma team for showcasing Nigeria to the world. All the best.
We had the pleasure of celebrating our mums 60th birthday with a lunch buffet. The food tasted great, and we never had to ask twice for a restock of the meals, they kept flowing. The staff and boss were very accommodating even with the planning and we were allowed to set up our own decorations in a corner for photos, gave a nice party vibe! The restaurant itself gives a feeling of back home, east Nigeria. Would recommend and would definitely visit again!
