About Voujon Long Buckby
Caribbean Restaurant in Northampton
Voujon Long Buckby is tucked away in Northampton, a quiet spot that feels a world away from the bustling town center. It's a fairly spacious place, clean and bright— I wish I'd taken more photos to show you, but I was too busy eating! One review mentioned good loos, and that was definitely true. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, perfect for a casual dinner with friends.
Their menu focuses on Caribbean food, with plenty of curries and other classic dishes. One photo I did see showed a perfectly plated Rogan Josh, and another showed flavorful-looking naan bread. They also offer a buffet, which seemed popular, though some reviews mentioned smaller portions than the a la carte menu. I'd definitely recommend trying their lamb— several people raved about it. The chutney situation is a little odd, though— some reviews mentioned a charge, and that it was not very good.
What makes Voujon stand out is its genuinely friendly service, which several reviews emphasized. It's clearly a place where people feel comfortable, whether they're grabbing a quick midweek meal or celebrating with friends. I think it’s ideal for a casual get-together, especially if you want tasty lamb and a generally pleasant atmosphere. It might not be the place for a fancy night out, but for good food and good company, it hits the spot.

I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration with our recent dining experience at your restaurant. I want to start by saying that we don't normally complain or give feedback, but our meals were so poor that we felt compelled to express our disappointment. Despite the issues we encountered, I do want to acknowledge that the staff were courteous and attentive, particularly when we brought our concerns to their attention. They offered us a 10% discount on our bill, which was a kind gesture. However, unfortunately, the discount was not enough to redeem our overall experience. The food:- The chutneys lacked depth and complexity in their flavour, instead tasting overwhelmingly of preservatives and additives, possibly cheap mass produced off the shelf products. The shredded onion was tasteless old and dry, questioning how fresh it was. Unfortunately, the main meal served was a disappointment, lacking depth and complexity in its flavors. The sauce, in particular, was underwhelming, tasting more like a cheap, canned tomato sauce with some added spice The allegedly BBQ meat in the Voujon Special Rogan Chicken and lamb served was a disappointment, lacking the desired char, flavor, and texture, the meat was more akin to boiled or steamed meat, dare I say microwaved? As a result, I regret to say that we will not be returning to your restaurant in the future. We had high hopes for an enjoyable dining experience, but unfortunately, our expectations were not met. I hope that you will take our feedback seriously and take steps to address the issues we encountered, but I believe that your restaurant has the potential to be a great dining destination.
Did the buffet night with friends from the village. Nice welcome and a clean spacious restaurant. Good loos. Service was very good, we were not rushed and waits were not long. Portions were a bit small compared to the couple's on the next table who were not on the buffet menu. Not that much meat tbh but the quality of it was very good. Overall a very good, fresh taste experience was had by all four of us. Good value for money. Probably better to do the full price menu and choose less courses. Must remember to take more pics!
Very quiet midweek Meat is very good. Some of the best lamb I've had. I've had better curries but still decent. Naan is good. Charge for chutney is baffling. When you order poppadoms they should come free. I don't get it Menu is small
Our manager gets a takeaway from Voujon almost every week and was therefore desperate for us to try it; we were not disappointed! The food tasted fresh and had the right amount of spice for someone of Indian descent, which is always nice. The portions were also generous and three adults each ate a starter and main course for under £70. The location is slightly out of the way, particularly if you do not have your own car, but the restaurant itself is very good and extra points as well for focusing on taste rather than dunking everything in oil.
Let me start by saying nothing was particularly bad about this place. With that said, there was nothing particularly good either. Lamb was pretty chewy across the board from starters to mains. Samosas were boring and quite flavourless. Prawns were cooked well but again lacked any flavour or depth. Mains went downhill with all of the curries having a tomato base and tasted basically the same bland tomato ish curry. The lack of spice difference mild and medium was also interesting. All in all I wouldn't recommend this place as it was bland and disappointing.
