About June Plum Food

Caribbean Restaurant in Northampton

Stepping into June Plum Food in Northampton felt like a mini-vacation. The restaurant has a really cheerful, colorful vibe; the décor is bright and welcoming, making it feel less like a restaurant and more like a casual Caribbean hangout. One review mentioned relaxing on a couch and feeling like they were on the beach – I can see why.

Their menu offers a range of Caribbean staples. I saw photos featuring a perfectly plated jerk chicken dish that looked amazing. They also have things like curried goat, rice and peas, and patties. Based on reviews, I’d definitely try the jerk chicken spring rolls, although it sounds like the quality can be inconsistent, especially with takeout orders.

The mixed reviews highlight the biggest thing about June Plum Food: inconsistency. Dine-in seems to be a much better experience than ordering for delivery. If you're looking for a fun, casual spot for a Caribbean meal with friends and want to sit in the restaurant, this might be perfect. It’s probably best avoided if you’re ordering in, though.

Carribean’s vibe, good decoration and atmosphere. While the temperature too hot outside, I am sitting on the couch inside , listen a music and relax then imagining I am on the beach

Absolutely terrible food. Avoid! Today I ordered from what appeared to be a lovely Caribbean takeaway. Food was delivered via Just Eat in a good amount of time. All of the food was hot when it turned up and that's where it went downhill. The food was terrible. The Rice & Pea was mushy and had no seasoning, the curried goat (if you can call it that) had no spice, covered in grease and was so salty it was inedible. The Salt fish dumplings didn’t taste of fish at all and the patty's (again, if you can call them that) were horrific. The Beef one was like an English beef mince in gravy, no spice at all! The pastry crust which was obviously home made didn’t resemble what a patty should be, no flaky shell and didn’t taste right. The Jamaican chicken looks like it had been sat under a hot light for the last week, also inedible! I come from the part of the UK with a massive Jamaican/Caribbean community so I’ve eaten a lot of Caribbean/Jamaican food before, and I’m shocked this has been passed off as Caribbean food. The owner/chef/server should hang their head in shame! All the food went straight in the bin! I won’t be ordering from here again! ___________________________________ Response to the owner! The order number is 372063950 (screen shot included) stop playing silly games, you know you made the food today! It was under a different name but I'm sure you've not made the order above for anyone else today! Regarding your comments around it not being suited to my palate, I've had better Jamaican Patty's from a service station on the M1! You know what you sent out didn't meet any standards! I've looked at your reviews and it appears you only care about your in-house food served in your restaurant as the poor reviews are mainly takeaways! Maybe someone else needs to take over the responsibility of responding to reviews because this isn’t the right way to handle a poor review left by a customer who spent £40 to throw it in the bin!

I typically order JP as a delivery, but wanted to have a nice evening dinner a couple nights ago. Really enjoyed the new Jerk chicken spring roll. Had wanted to try the homemade Guinness Punch but unfortunately it was sold out that night. There was a bit of a service wait on the food and drinks at times too. Overall the food still was amazing and would eat there again, perhaps at a less busy time of day in the week

Beautiful authentic food cooked and served by their lovely friendly staff! We had the jerk chicken rotis with chips. Highly recommend trying 🥘

I have been wanting to go to June Plum for ages and wow was it worth the wait. I can see why this restaurant has such a great reputation. The menu is great and has a good variety for all food requirements, cocktails were tasty and ambiance was good, but I would've preferred to be downstairs personally as upstairs is quite small. Would highly recommend 👌🏻
