So I just got back from this new Caribbean place in Newcastle called The Shiremoor Fish and Grill. It's a pretty small spot, tucked away, but has a really relaxed, casual vibe. The walls are painted a cheerful yellow, and there’s reggae music playing softly in the background – it’s very welcoming. Looking through the photos online, I noticed they have some nice outdoor seating as well, perfect for a warmer day.

Their menu is focused on seafood, obviously, but with a definite Caribbean twist. They've got jerk chicken and various other meats, too, but the fish dishes are the real stars. One photo shows a perfectly plated escovitch snapper – it looked incredible! They also have a great selection of sides, like fried plantains and rice and peas. I'd definitely recommend checking out their specials; they seem to change regularly.

This place is perfect for a casual weeknight dinner or a relaxed weekend lunch with friends. It’s got that friendly, neighborhood restaurant feel, but with food that's really quite special. The quality of the ingredients seemed high, and the flavors were vibrant and fresh – a definite step up from your average fish and chips.
