About Cafe Pareo
Caribbean Restaurant in Newcastle
Cafe Pareo in Newcastle is a charming little spot; tucked away, it has a really relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The space feels bright and airy, with a nice mix of modern and Caribbean elements. Looking through the photos online, I noticed lovely artwork and some interesting decor that suggests a lot of care was put into the space's design. It's the kind of place where you could easily while away a lazy afternoon.
Their menu is pretty diverse, offering a good selection of classic Caribbean dishes with some interesting twists. They had several kinds of jerk chicken (one photo showed a perfectly plated jerk chicken with vibrant mango salsa), a delicious-looking fish stew, and some seriously tempting sides like fried plantains and coconut rice. I went for the curried goat and it was fantastic, full of flavour and perfectly spiced. I'd also recommend trying their rum punch if you’re feeling adventurous.
What makes Cafe Pareo special is its authentic feel. It's clear that a lot of love goes into the food, and that shines through in every dish. It's perfect for a casual dinner with friends, a romantic date night, or even just a solo lunch. If you’re looking for a taste of the Caribbean that feels genuine and isn't overly fussy, this is your spot.
