About The Drop Bar Restaurant
Caribbean Restaurant in Manchester
The Drop Bar Restaurant in Manchester is tucked away in a surprisingly quiet spot, a nice contrast to the city buzz. The atmosphere is relaxed and trendy, with warm lighting and a cool, minimalist design. Looking through the photos online, I noticed the bar area is a focal point, and there are plenty of comfortable-looking booths. It feels like a place you could easily spend a few hours.
Their menu features Caribbean-inspired dishes with a modern twist. They have a good selection of small plates perfect for sharing, and heartier mains too. One photo shows a perfectly plated jerk chicken with vibrant, colourful sides; it looked amazing. I'd recommend trying their cocktails, as the online photos hint at a creative and expertly crafted drinks list.
What makes The Drop Bar special is its blend of relaxed vibes and sophisticated food. It's the kind of place that's perfect for a date night, drinks with friends, or a celebratory dinner. It avoids feeling too stuffy or overly casual, striking a really nice balance. If you're looking for delicious food and a pleasant atmosphere, this should definitely be on your list.

The best Carribbean meal I've ever eaten out! So tasty, chicken fell off the bone. The Sunday roast was delicious and my date said the curry goat was on par with his sister's which is saying something ☺️ I'll definitely be back I rated one less star on service just because I feel like the waitress could have been a bit more friendly and engaging. She didn't seem too happy.
Overhyped and overpriced. We were really excited to try the drop after living so close for some years, but never getting round to going. Had made a booking for 7pm, was greeted by someone who didn’t really know what was going on and gave the impression that we should know where our table was. We were seated outside, which was fine, there were heaters and as long as the door was kept shut it wasn’t too cold. However, none of the staff made any attempt to look outside to see if any tables needed attending. Finally managed to flag someone down after 30 minutes to take an order. We were lucky and our food arrived almost immediately but a simple drinks order (beer and soft drink) had to be chased, and came towards the end of the meal. We both had curry goat, which was fine, by no means the best Caribbean food I’ve had by a long shot. Meat was well cooked but sauce was a bit bland. By the time we had finished, other tables who had arrived at the same time were still waiting for food or had received wrong orders. I went to pay and was first given the wrong bill which rounded off the evening fittingly. We did use the 50% off deal but it’s very unlikely we will be returning for the same experience at full price. A shame.
I recently dined at The Drop Bar Cafe, a Caribbean restaurant, and had a fantastic experience. We ordered the jerk chicken, curried goat, rice and peas, along with sides of mac and cheese and coleslaw. The food was overall really good, with generous portion sizes that left us with plenty of leftovers to take home. The mac and cheese was a standout, probably the best I've had in the UK so far. The service was also excellent, making the entire dining experience enjoyable. If you're looking for delicious Caribbean cuisine with great service, I highly recommend The Drop Bar Cafe.
Brunch on a Sunday no matter the night you had before - a cozy one in or an absolute bender, The Drop Bar Cafe will heal you. The food and flavours were immense. We arrived at midday with a booking which couldn’t be found so things didn’t get off to the best start but after a wait worth waiting the food arrived and I realised I’d worried needlessly. One of us is a Mac and cheese fan so he had the chicken roast and I had the chicken hench box with a side of plantains (which I couldn’t finish). The food here will transport you through cultures and time. Don’t be in a rush to receive it or finish it - savour it! It really is very good.
Let's start with the good... The food was tasty and well presented. No criticism there. The big but however was the service. Granted it was busy but having seated ourselves at the reserved table with no acknowledgement for 20 minutes, we asked if we could order. Drinks took a while but fine. The issue was the food. We ordered 2 identical meals (each a sharer between 2) but only one turned up. We were told the other would be a few minutes. It wasn't... Half finished their food before the other half's food came out. Sides were missing and came after that. Delivery food was flying out of the kitchen however. I don't think they could manage both and unfortunately it felt that delivery took priority over customers in the restaurant. Would I go back? Probably as a delivery but not as a dine in.
