About Soul & Surf Mcr
Caribbean Restaurant in Manchester
Soul & Surf Mcr is tucked away in Manchester, a little harder to find than your average restaurant, which adds to its charm. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual; think sunshine and good vibes, even on a grey Manchester day. The photos online show a bright, airy space with a lot of natural light, making it feel welcoming and upbeat.
Their menu focuses on Caribbean flavors, with dishes that go beyond the usual jerk chicken. I saw photos of a vibrant, perfectly plated escabeche and what looked like a fantastic plantain-based dessert. They clearly put thought into each dish; I'd recommend trying their seafood selection, judging from the pictures.
What makes Soul & Surf special is its unpretentious vibe and focus on quality ingredients. It's the kind of place you could go for a quick lunch, a casual dinner with friends, or even a relaxed celebration. It's a breath of fresh Caribbean air in Manchester and definitely worth checking out if you want something a bit different.

YUM! The plantains can’t help but be the star of the show—- would’ve eaten a basket full. The mac and cheese is fabulous…. Prawns were my absolute favorite but had to try the lobster too. The wings were absolutely annihilated by my friend. You have to get to Soul & Surf!
I rarely get blown away but I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and this is the best food I’ve eaten in a while. The gizzards and jollof were phenomenal. The jollof was so spicy and smokey, the best I’ve ever had. The service also really made our experience, sorry I didn’t catch your name but the young girl at the front here on Saturday night 31/08 was an absolute sweetheart! Shoutout to the chefs for the amazing food, you have something so special here. Cannot recommend enough!
A nice Nigerian restaurant to try around Manchester city centre✅ Not enough food options though and they need to fix that “discretionary service charge” because it’s off-putting. Still worth a visit anyway
This was a great find. They had some unique options on the menu such as lobster tail and turkey wings. The restaurant is quite small so booking ahead is recommended. The food was tasty, the mains portion size were great and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I've had to remove a star because the food took a while to come out (even though there weren't that many people in the restaurant at the time), and the portion size of the small bites was very small. For £6 I expected a few more wings. We ordered the Salmon and King Prawn Surf Box and peppered turkey wings.
Absolute best authentic soul food in Manchester! All flavours, the way they cook it and the atmosphere is unmatched. I will miss ordering both from Deliveroo and going in person. Aside from all the fantastic dishes, they also make great waffles?! I would say leave space for the waffles and get a take away to enjoy the rest of the big plates they offer as the main dishes.
