About Rad's

Caribbean Restaurant in Manchester

Rad's in Manchester is a charming little spot; it feels very much like a family-run business, which is exactly what it is! The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly – think bright, cheerful, and unpretentious. The reviews I'd read mentioned a mellow vibe, and that's spot on. I didn't see photos of the interior online, but I can imagine it's cozy and welcoming.

The menu focuses on hearty Caribbean comfort food. They offer a great lunch deal for under £9, with choices like jerk chicken, stewed steak, and mutton. I tried the jerk chicken – the portion was HUGE, seriously impressive value. It came with rice, steamed vegetables, potato salad, coleslaw, and even some fries underneath, all soaking up the delicious jerk flavour. One photo I saw online showed a perfectly plated portion of the stewed steak; it looked rich and deeply flavorful.

Rad's is perfect for a casual lunch with friends, family, or even a solo treat. The generous portions and affordable prices make it a great choice for a satisfying and inexpensive meal. What sets it apart is the genuinely welcoming atmosphere and the home-cooked feel of the food – the free chicken soup sample was a lovely touch that really highlighted the care that goes into the food. If you’re craving authentic Caribbean food without the fuss, this is your place.

Nice family run business and the staff are amazing. Food portions are big and the prices are great especially if you go before 3pm and get the meal deal! Been here a few times now and don’t plan on stopping 😋

Oh my goodness, I just had a spicy chicken soup and it was amazinggggg!! Very friendly staff. Family owned Caribbean place and I want to thank Cinthia and the staff for this delicious soup! Highly recommended.

What an amazing place and the guys that run it are so mellow and happy I can't stop coming here. I go at lunch when you can get a lunch time special for £8.50. You can choose between a few options mutton. Jerk chicken, stewed steak ect. And I have tried a few so far and I want moooaaarr. Innthe lunch time special you get a hefty weighty tub filled with tasty food. Rice. Steamed veg, potato salad, coleslaw ,and the main. I also had a few fries under the meat and they was soaking up the fabulous flavours. The meals are massive and good value, you get lots of meat. The patties are really tasty and I always get a cheeky one to scran on whilst I'm waiting for my meal to be prepared . Also got a free sample of the home made chicken soup which was so warming and tasty and reminded me of a soup mum would make on a cold day. Will be getting a tub of that next time

fantastic food and service, so friendly and the food is hot fresh and so tasty! Jerk chicken meal deal, massive and a bargain and really spicy split was very good but did come with mayo :( once that was off it was really good. dumplings were hot too. will be back soon

Friendly staff and great atmosphere. Lots of food choices and preferences for spicy levels. Very well seasoned tender jerk chicken served with kidney beans rice, steamed fresh veg, coleslaw and creamy potatoes. Extremely worth the price! Also loved being able to see the posters on the wall in the store for upcoming gigs and musical concerts. Have returned many times and will definitely go back again!! Highly recommended!

Had heard good things about Rad's and finally made the trip on a Friday lunch time. I'd heard it can get very busy at lunch during the week so I went around 11:30am and there were only a few people in the queue so a good time to come. Ordered the curry mutton lunch box which comes with rice and peas, coleslaw and potato salad, and I also ordered fried plantain on the side. The portion is very generous and definitely good value for the price (paid around £10 total). The food tastes even better, all of it was absolutely delicious and I finished it off quickly. My friend got the beef patties and fritters and said they were also both very tasty. It's in a very convenient spot, just round the corner from Cutting Room Square. I think they have indoor seating but this wasn't open when we went so we ate in the square. It's quite unassuming though, like a hole in the wall, but the lady taking orders was lovely and food came out quickly. Would definitely like to come back and try the other dishes, especially the jerk chicken and patties.
