About Mamma G's Caribbean Soul Food
Caribbean Restaurant in Manchester
Mamma G's Caribbean Soul Food in Manchester is a cozy spot, tucked away but easy enough to find. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, a real neighbourhood gem. Looking through the photos online, I noticed the space features bright colours and plenty of natural light, creating a cheerful ambiance. It felt less like a formal restaurant and more like someone's welcoming home.
The menu is packed with classic Caribbean dishes, offering a good mix of familiar favourites and some exciting new things I hadn't seen before. They have all the jerk chicken and curry goat you could want, but also some intriguing daily specials. One photo shows a perfectly plated plate of escovitch fish, looking bright and fresh, making me wish I'd ordered it. I ended up having the oxtail stew, which was rich and flavourful.
What makes Mamma G's special is the genuine warmth and hospitality. It felt like a place where the food was made with love, and that really shone through in every bite. It's perfect for a casual weeknight dinner, a relaxed lunch with friends, or even a family gathering. If you're craving authentic Caribbean food in a friendly, unpretentious setting, then you should definitely check this place out.

My wife had an at-home cooking lesson from Terry (the owner); he was excellent and she had a thoroughly enjoyable 2 hours. He brought the all ingredients (and left a load) and we received full instructions. We highly recommend it. Thank you, Mamma G (Terry).
Carribbean within the Produce Hall. Saltfish 'boom box' felt overpriced at £19. Plantain was great. Salads passable and fish tasty - but not enough of it (too much rice, too little taste).
If you find yourself in the busy, vibey Produce Hall in Stockport, you have to try out Mamma G’s street food. The pepper Steak is a tasty dish. Big strips of steak, peppers and onions in a Caribbean pepper sauce, on a bed of rice and peas with pink slaw. Yum, now my tummy is full and ready for a night out!
Great place, we ordered the small dishes and treated it like Tapas, food we had was great, ie mixed bean salad, macaroni cheese, and two different types of chicken.
I went to eat at Mamma G on a busy Saturday, but their staff was still very kind and took the time to guide me through their menu, as it's very varied. I ended up getting their chicken wrap, which was both a very tasty and filling portion. Especially recommended their lemon and herbs chips. I often go for Caribbean food and Mamma G simply knocks it out of the park, 5 stars all around.
