Walking into Mama Flo's in Manchester felt like stepping into someone's warm, welcoming kitchen. The space is small and unpretentious, but buzzing with a friendly energy. My photos don't really capture the atmosphere—they mainly show blurry plates of food, because I was so eager to eat! It's clearly a neighborhood gem, the kind of place where you'd feel comfortable grabbing a quick lunch or taking out a family meal.
Their menu focuses on classic Caribbean dishes. I saw curried goat mentioned in several reviews, which was tempting, but I opted for the jerk chicken. One photo shows a perfectly plated portion of this with fluffy rice and peas, and it looked amazing. They also have beef patties and a chicken split, the gravy of which apparently is legendary. The prices are very reasonable, definitely in the affordable range.
What makes Mama Flo's special is its genuine warmth and the obvious care put into the food. It's the kind of place where you could easily become a regular, popping in for a quick and tasty lunch during the week. Driven past lots of times and always wondered. Popped in for the first time today to try the curried goat. DELICIOUS. This place is on the way to where I drop my missus off at work. I can see this becoming a regular thing...
The food here is horrible. The jerk chicken was soupy and lacked flavour. The beef patties were rock hard with barely any beef. It’s a shame as I’ve heard so many positive things about this place through word of mouth.
This place is amazing. Visited for the first time yesterday and will certainly be back. The food was great, felt really authentic and was clearly freshly made. It is also so reasonably priced for what you get I was met warmly when I went to collect our order and whilst I didnt get to chat the service was genuine and the people were lovely I don't know what goes into the gravy with the chicken split but I would happily have it everyday My photos do not do this place justice as I was too eager to start eating!
Lovely welcoming cafe. We used to go to Mama Flo's when she was in Gorton. We went yesterday and the food was just as good. The Guinness punch and pineapple punch were yummy. Goat Curry and jerk chicken, generous portions and nicely presented.
I heard about this place from a friend so made the trip from Bolton. Arrived a little early before opening time. Mama Flo was more than happy to let me in. The food was delicious and warm. Curried goat fell off the bone ample gravy and divine dumplings !!!! Thank you Mama Flo … it was so good I took a portion back for my mama! Who loved it btw! Try it … it doesn’t disappoint 🥰
What a superb place this is! No wonder multi premier league winning stars like Kyle Walker love it. There is also a photo of a lesser light of the footballing world, who plays for the team that used to be good decades ago, from outside the city, salford way, Harold MacQuire is it. It would be fabulous food at any price, but it is amazing value for the stunning flavoursome deliciousness and quality. I had 2 lamb chops for a fiver. The meat fell off the bone and the flavour was to die for. Oh My Days... sensational. 10 outta 10. I also had pasties of jerk chicken, beef and lamb. I dipped them in the jerk sauce that was so warm and flavoursome. Properly mind blowing food. The magical lady is an angel without wings but a true angel providing nourishment to mind body and soul with her truly wonderful Quality Jamaican Food! Let Jah provide the bread and let's dip it in the warm heavenly jerk sauce. ❤️
