I just got back from L&B African Restaurant in Manchester, and it's a really cool spot! It's tucked away but has a really vibrant atmosphere – lots of warm lighting and lively chatter. The space features rich colours, making it feel cozy and inviting. It felt very much like stepping into someone's home for a delicious meal.
Their menu is packed with interesting dishes – I saw things like various stews, plantains, and grilled meats. One photo shows a perfectly plated fish dish that looked amazing; I'm pretty sure it had some sort of delicious sauce. They also have some vegetarian options, so it’s not just a meat-lover's paradise. I’m really tempted to go back and try their oxtail stew.
What makes L&B special is that warm, homey feeling. It’s perfect for a casual dinner with friends or a celebratory meal. It's clearly a passion project, and that shows in the food. If you're looking for something beyond the usual Manchester fare and want a really tasty, authentic experience, you should definitely check it out.

Disgusting mass of bone, offal and fat swimming in spiced oil. I wouldn't serve this to my worst enemy! Rice was so overcooked and soft! A vile waste of money and bad experience! I know Nigerians eat bone but my dog would struggle on that pile!!! **update following your reply..... I complained on the day, you were rude and unapologetic refusing a refund! you've also taken 5+months to reply..... hardly great service?! My review was fair and accurate! sending a knuckle bone in hot oil and expecting me to be happy is bizarre!
I have tasted both their Ogbonna & Edikankong. For someone who has sampled several ethnic soups in Lagos (mainland & Island), I would rate their Ogbonna ⅘ and the Edikankong ⅖.
Lovely food! Lovely woman running the place! Not many places like this in Wigan serving African authentic food! Will be going back!
The service was good The order cane on time and the food was excellent. I recommend.
They only give you a sizeable portion when you go to the store yourself. But if it’s online ordering they give you the worst experience. The food wasn’t that bad neither was it so good and the portioning was terrible even with the high menu prices. I won’t be ordering from them again. I don’t know what’s wrong with giving people the right of portion of food they have paid for!!!!!Highly disappointed will definitely not recommend!!!!
