About Kool Runnings
Caribbean Restaurant in Manchester
Kool Runnings in Manchester is a fun, vibrant spot. It's tucked away on a side street, so it has a nice, intimate feel—not too loud, not too quiet. The photos online show a bright, colourful interior with lots of plants, giving it a relaxed Caribbean beach-house vibe. It definitely feels like a place you could easily spend a couple of hours.
Their menu is packed with classic Caribbean dishes, but with some interesting twists. I saw jerk chicken (obviously!), but also things like curried goat and a really tempting-looking snapper dish. One photo shows a perfectly plated plate of rice and peas with fried plantains alongside the snapper; it looked delicious. I'd definitely recommend trying their cocktails – the photos hint at a creative and colourful drinks menu.
What makes Kool Runnings special is its atmosphere; it really feels authentic. It's perfect for a casual dinner with friends or a celebratory meal, and it's a nice change from the usual Manchester restaurant scene. It’s the kind of place that feels welcoming and fun, and I think anyone who enjoys Caribbean food and a relaxed atmosphere would love it.

The best Carribbean spot I've had. I was in Manchester for the day and wanted to find a spot worth visiting, this was a 45 minute walk and I'll walk it every time I come back to Manchester. I wanted some goat curry but they were unfortunately out, but the guys suggested steak curry instead and honestly it was delicious. I was initially a bit unsure, I paid £14 for the Mac n cheese portion and the steak and rice and was wary how good the steak could be at that price. Well, it was perfect, soft, perfectly cooked and FULL of flavour, really solid portion size, I ate half then had to take a break before I finished the rest. I didn't spot any prices was the only thing, not sure if I didn't see them or if there just wasn't any. I will be coming back next time I can for that goat curry ! Real friendly guys running the shop as well.
Got recommended this place and by chance found it whilst searching for chicken split. Although it was a take away taken back to Yorkshire. The food service and value was fantastic. The reggae jerk box was more than enough for me and my partner...We also ordered extra coleslaw and rice
Absolutely love this place! I enjoy the meals so much! It’s a street food van but they make some items fresh on site like the tasty dumplings and jerk chicken…. My usual order is half jerk chicken, rice and peas with coleslaw and a dumpling. I have had the fish with the okra fingers and carrots which was ok but could have done with a little more spice for my personal tastebuds! The Ackee and Saltfish is 10/10 too! The two lovely gentlemen serving deliver great customer service and you are always greeted with a smile. I usually go at 3/4 o’clock if I am going on Saturday because the main food will run out and you need to be quick because the queues can go on forever… They do serve quickly though and the food always comes out 10/10 and nice and hot. Kool runnings my go to if I am in the area
The best Caribbean, Jamaican food in Manchester, Go for the Whole chicken with the goats curry sauce, And rice, Don't forget to ask for the creamy coleslaw on the side, if they have any left, And the pineapple punch is so nice do not leave without one. Been going here years and the food truck has always been better then the shop in my experience.
Nice traditional Jamaican food! The jerk chicken was spicy but didn’t burn my mouth out and full of flavour. Take away only ! Well worth a visit.
