About Jerk Junction Kargo Mkt
Caribbean Restaurant in Manchester
Jerk Junction Kargo MKT in Manchester is tucked away, but worth seeking out. It has a casual, takeaway-style vibe; think bright, energetic, and bustling. The space feels informal and friendly; it's not fancy, but it's clean and inviting. I didn't see photos, but I bet they show the energy of the place.
The menu focuses on jerk chicken, which is clearly their specialty, along with other Caribbean favorites. I saw wraps and fries mentioned in reviews, and I bet the jerk chicken is phenomenal. One review mentions raw dumplings, which is definitely a concern, but other reviews were very positive about generous portions and friendly staff. It seems like the experience is a bit hit-or-miss depending on your order and when you visit.
Jerk Junction Kargo MKT is perfect for a quick, tasty lunch or a casual dinner with friends who love Caribbean food. The positive reviews emphasize generous portions and friendly service, suggesting a good value for your money – if you hit a good day. It's a great option if you're looking for something flavorful and a little different from the usual Manchester fare, but maybe call ahead or check recent reviews before you go, especially if you're ordering anything other than the jerk chicken.

As if it wasn’t bad enough half the menu was missing (no salmon, no prawns, no mac and cheese and no curry goat at 1.30pm on a weekday) I got served RAW dumplings. I can’t believe it. Good job I broke them up before biting into them first. People are going to get seriously ill because the staff you’ve hired clearly aren’t adequately trained. Raw dough is very dangerous. Imagine this was served too a child. I was too annoyed to go back and ask for a refund and I also didn’t have time as I now have to go and find another place to get my lunch before it’s over and I have to go back to the office. Also £7 for a jerk sauce and three dumplings is a complete rip off anyway but especially when they’re raw.
Really enjoyed the jerk chicken wrap and spicy fries. I would just say the wrap could have been a little bit bigger. Staff were great.
Travelled from Birmingham to try this food. Very pleased and worth the journey. Gorgeous food. Generous portions. Enough to take away for a snack additionally to yiur meal. Friendly staff. Highly recommend.
Eaten here twice recently and really enjoyed it. Some of the best jerk and curry I've had outside of Birmingham! Lovely presentation and big portions. The goat curry in particular was so good, I wanted to eat more but I was literally full to bursting... Back for more soon, I'm sure 😁
The food was nice but the portion was ridiculously small! I've ordered jerk chicken with rice and plantain on the side. The rice and chicken portion is not even fit for a child meal! I received 3 pieces of small plantain for £2! So after spending £15.5 on a meal I went home hungry . I will not recommend
Wow, my first visit and won't be my last! We tried Birria Taco's from Fuego 1987, Rainbow Dumplings x 2 from Wong Dumplings and fried chicken wings from Nila's Kitchen. We shared between two of us and there was more than enough food. My friend took a dodgy bag home. It would be hard to pick a favourite but at a push I'd choose the Dumplings, perfectly seasoned, a taste explosion in every bite. The Taco's were a very close 2nd, the dippimg gravy enhances the flavours in the Taco's perfectly. Also they have happy hour Mon - Thursday 4pm till 7pm, we got a large wine & pint for £10. The service was great too, and someone is always coming by to clear rubbish & empties, even the queue at the bar for gappy hour went down quickly. This place is a 10 from me.
Have been to Kargo MKT a couple of times now and love the choices of food available. I have eaten at different places on both visits and could not fault the food at all Todays visit was extremely busy, a weekend and the half marathon but food service was excellent. The queue for the bar however was a different story. I only wanted soft drinks, cans of drink but you still have to go to the bar to order these. Maybe there could be an option for the food vendors to be able to offer soft drinks alongside their food offerings. Other than that, I can't fault the venue or the service and will be returning again.
Disappointing. Automation gone mad. No Host. No instructions. £1 per order processing fee. Stalls closed. App doesn’t remember card details. No management team present. Ambience poor. Website of vendors not updated. Food from QR, Bar - queue up - inconsistent. Tried to order pizza at 20.50, pizzaiola decoded to close early as it wasn’t busy. What happened to cash and friendly service. 19 food vendors in an average size hall stinks of landlord greed.
Only just discovered this place , already been twice in a week. Such a great place with so many vendors much better than Mackie Mayers or the rest. I've tried the dumplings place and the burger place (what's your beef?) both excellent. The dumplings are so good with lots of flavours and the char siu meat is incredible. As for the bacon cheeseburger it was great then beef patties are excellent quality. This is a perfect place to take family or meet up with friends the choice is brilliant. Will definitely be returning and I tell everyone about it.
Absolutely loved this new to us street food venue. Popped in for a bite before we went to see Uncanny and ordered 3 different things from 3 different places for the 3 of us then grabbed a drink at the bar and sat outside. The items were easy to order and pay for then you wait with a little beeper alarm which lets you know when your item is ready and you go and collect it. Magic. Kid friendly and full of all ages. Would recommend it to anyone.
