About Yah-so Caribbean

Caribbean Restaurant in London

Yah-So Caribbean popped up on my radar as a new London spot, and I finally got to check it out. It's tucked away in a vibrant part of town (I'll be vague about the exact location for now!), and the atmosphere felt really welcoming—bright, colourful, with a good buzz. The photos online accurately reflect the space: lots of warm wood tones, colourful artwork, and a generally lively, happy vibe. It feels like a place you could easily spend hours chatting with friends.

The menu is packed with classic Caribbean dishes, but with some interesting twists. They offer a great selection of jerk options, of course, and some delicious-looking curries. One photo shows a perfectly plated plate of oxtail stew, and the roti looked fantastic. I personally went for the jerk chicken, and it was fantastic. I definitely recommend trying their cocktails too. They were well-made and very refreshing.

What makes Yah-So special is that relaxed, friendly atmosphere. It's the kind of place perfect for a casual dinner with friends, a celebratory meal, or even just a quick bite on your own. It's not overly fussy, and the food is delicious and feels authentic. If you're looking for a taste of the Caribbean without the tourist traps, I'd highly recommend giving Yah-So a try.

The food ordered was a dream. Presentation is appetising. Recommend the Ackee spring Rolls, sweet potatoe fries from this order. The rice & peas, Jerk chicken, mac & cheese from a previous order - would also recommend. Definitely would recommend this restaurant, it's authentic, a true taste of the Caribbean in London. Service varies from staff to staff, some staff are experienced & can maintain their professionalism and other staff appear not to be judging from our interactions with them. When the restaurant was busy during this visit some staff appeared flustered & under serious pressure which made them behave rather snappy/irritated & in an unprofessional rush - making mistakes. Other staff were great & able to work under pressure with a professional ease. I shall put this down to the nature of the business? Atmosphere was soothing, relaxed, fresh and the restaurant was clean. Cutlery was clean as well as seating/table. There's a hygiene area in the middle of the restaurant where you can wash your hands before you eat without having to access the toilets to wash your hands. Birthday package is really cool and adds something special to the memorable experience. Service charge was more than usually expected, not sure what the % is.

Table of 5 consensus: One of the UK’s top Jamaican restaurants! PLUS + Even Jamaican grandmas agree, “high-quality Jamaican food.”. + Excellent comfort food option! + Authentic recreated classics, i.e., “ackee cigar.”. + A main was enough to fulfil and satisfy; however, most mains required a side. + Reasonably priced: 2 course meals and a side for around £30. + Accommodate special meal requests. + Formally welcoming staff and generally very good service. + Restaurant interior and music perfectly complimented the type of cuisine served. MINUS - On a busy evening, you can expect a 30-minutes wait for your order. - “Root island slaw” tasted store-bought. - The restaurant could benefit from a quick, hassle-free table QR code payment method, with the option to self-select or equally split group payments. ORDER HISTORY Starters: * ACKEE CIGAR * RASTAMAN BLUNT Mains: * WEH U A SEH, YU AH WORK WID DE JERK * DIS YAH MEAT SWEET * A BIT OF DAT TING DERE * STEAM LIKE A DREAM Sides: * Mac & Cheese * Tossed Stir Fried Rice & Peas * Root Island Slaw * Fried Plantain * Festival Dumplings * Yam Mash Dessert: * Rum Cake

Went here with a few friends yesterday. This place was recommended to me. Firstly, when I walked in, I noticed the vibes. They had music playing in the background. It had a cosy feel to it. Loved the decor. The is a Jamican food restaurant, hence the name and the decor. For starters, we ordered the ackee and saltfish and the calaloo spring rolls. Which was tasty serves with a chilli dip. For mains, I orederd the lamb chops with yam mash and spinach with a mint jerk sauce in the side. My friends ordered the curry goat and tossed rice and peas, which consisted of gunga peas with veg. Both mains were so tasy the lamb chops were just how I liked it and you get plenty. By the time we all got halfway through our mains, we were full. We also ordered for sides. Plantain, Festivals, Mac N cheese, avocado, and mixed veg. It was so much food. The food was enjoyable and seasoned so well. They have great cocktails here. Even though I dont drink alcohol, my friends loved it. The only negative was that the service was a bit slow, which we mentioned to the manager who apologised. This was partly because they had 3 birthday celebrations there. This restaurant closes at 2am at least on a Saturday. Our table was booked for 8pm, and we left out there at 1am. The food stops serving about 11.30ish when the music style changes and you just continue to enjoy the rest of the night. I would definitely recommend it, but please book as it gets very busy.

Amazing food and cocktails. Ackee Spring Rolls were phenomenal and also good portion sizes! I would definitely recommend the jerk beef burger. Nice flavours and great vibes and music choices for the setting. A must visit.
