About Roti Joupa Shepherd’s Bush
Caribbean Restaurant in London
Roti Joupa Shepherd's Bush is a takeout-only spot in London, a bustling little window onto Caribbean flavors. It’s located right on the street, so the vibe is very casual and quick. The photos online show a simple setup, focusing entirely on the food; I didn't get a feel for any particular atmosphere beyond the energy of a busy takeaway.
Their menu centers around roti, with various fillings like mutton, chicken, and vegetarian options. One photo showed a roti filled to the brim with what looked like tender chicken and potatoes. While some reviews mentioned issues with the meat being tough and the vegetarian option being over-salted, the chicken roti in the pictures looked appealing. I'd personally be tempted to try the chicken or maybe a doubles bara, based on a positive review.
This place is perfect for a quick, affordable Caribbean lunch or dinner— especially if you're craving roti and don't mind a takeaway experience. It's not a place for a romantic dinner or a leisurely meal, but if you value good value and tasty food, it's worth checking out. However, be sure to read recent reviews, as the quality seems inconsistent.

First time trying the Roti filled with Mutton. The flavours and medium spice level was fine but WHY is the meat sooo tough & grizzly. Time should be taken to remove inedible fat at preparation & the chef needs to pressure cook and cook down the meat for longer so that it is soft and tender. Impossible to fully enjoy because of this. Will not be trying again.
We order roti Joopa we spent £36.00 When the food arrive it was nothing as described from the photo images The roti was dry hardly any dhal puree in it The vegetarian option was overcooked and very salty no taste at all everything was mixed together like baby food Meat options also very salty and tasteless It’s a shone your food does not meet our standards we will not be coming back you have lost a good customer
This is an only take out spot. There is no inside. You order on the street and you take away. Doubles bara was good with good condiments but channa wasn't up to the standard. Chicken roti was good, filled with chicken, would have liked a bit more potato. Roti is big and filling. There is no atmosphere. Service was good. Still a Cash only place. Very inconvenient.
One of at least 3 outlets across London. The same quality at each one. First the rotis are huge, I like to say Trinidad Style. Full of meat and flavour. Be sure to try a mixture of your choice of meat, pumpkin, tamarind sauce as well as mild pepper. Then close your eyes and enjoy one of the finest culinary delights this side of say, Trinidad! Prices are kept low in these post Covid times but they only take cash. Not a problem, as there is a Sainsbury's cashpoint a couple stores down. On a subsequent visit on aSaturday evening, I was told by a nearby business owner that "they've gone home after selling out!" So come nearer to lunchtime to avoid disappointment.
My mother got a vegetarian roti wrap, and she liked it. I asked them to heat up my prawn and roti. I was very hungry, so I ate the prawns, which were good, but the gravy was not tasty. It had a strange flavor, possibly from saffron, so I had to throw it away. I didn't want to be rude when they asked about my meal, but they need to know that the sauce for the prawns needs work. The roti had an Asian taste, while I expected it to taste more like Trinidadian roti and prawns. Maybe if I had chosen a meat dish with my roti, I would have enjoyed it more
