About Ossie's Jerk Chicken

Caribbean Restaurant in London

Ossie's Jerk Chicken is tucked away on a side street in London, a little gem I stumbled upon. The place is small but has a really friendly, casual atmosphere – think vibrant colours and the constant aroma of jerk spices hanging in the air. Looking through the photos online, I noticed the walls are decorated with fun Caribbean artwork, creating a welcoming, relaxed space.

The menu is fairly straightforward, focusing on jerk chicken (naturally!), but they also offer other classics like rice and peas, fried plantains, and various sides. One photo shows a perfectly plated plate of jerk chicken with that beautiful glistening glaze, and it looked incredible. I'd definitely recommend trying their signature jerk chicken—it was wonderfully smoky and juicy—and the plantains were a perfect sweet complement.

What makes Ossie's special is its authenticity and its laid-back vibe. It's the kind of place you’d grab a quick, delicious lunch with friends or grab takeaway for a casual dinner at home. It's not fancy, but it delivers on flavour and friendly service, which makes it a winner in my book. It's perfect for a simple, satisfying Caribbean food fix.

I just noticed there’s loads of bad reviews so thought I’d give them a slightly better one because these reviews don’t seem reflective of this place at all. I ordered online, wasn’t sure if I wanted to risk the place bcos of these reviews but decided to take a chance because I didn’t want jerk chicken from some pretentious place, I wanted the real thing. I’m glad I did. The jerk chicken was honestly delicious. Juicy, saucy, spicy and a huge portion, so glad that I’ve got leftovers for lunch now! The rice and peas was great too and soaked up all that lovely sauce. The coleslaw is seriously tasty, it’s exactly to the T how I like my coleslaw personally, so I couldn’t get enough of it!! My only critique of that is I wish there was more of it in the portion because it was honestly so so good, that it’s a shame the portion was that small. You could put that coleslaw on a shoe and it would make it taste good. I would say the mac was a bit dry and the crust over the top was rock solid unfortunately, but still pretty decent flavour. Plantain could have been better because it was cold and a bit soggy but those did not really take away from the rest of the meal being good. Don’t listen to these reviews - overall it’s a solid place with great flavours, and I would order the jerk, rice and coleslaw again in a heartbeat, hopefully will again very soon. Thanks 👍🏼

Service: arrived at 12:00 and there were no other customers. Server's (lack of) facial expression and general demeanour put me off. Food: ordered a small jerk chicken and rice & peas combo. Size of portion quite large. Chicken still on the bone. Rice puffy, like it was over cooked. Sauce tasty on first bite but overuse of allspice spoiled the food as well as overuse of oil. Based on the customer service alone, I wouldn't return and the poor quality food isn't worth it.

People People People...unfortunately the staff in this restaurant have a really bad bad attitude. Oh my gosh, it's almost like they're doing you a favour when serving, the feisty tones and not listening to what I requested. I am a strict vegetarian and asked for some kind of sauce or gravy and had given me chicken gravy. I complained and got a very rude response back and kissed her teeth. Other members of staff did not have my back they were muttering amongst themselves. Just utterly damn right rude. I will never visit again. Food is okay but just warmed up microwave food, never hot out of the pot.

I love ossie’s, I’m here at least once or twice a week. I mostly have rice and meat dishes- because I’m a gym girl, that’s all I need. Jerk pork and pepper steak with rice and peas are my favs, as well as the curry goat/chicken. I get good service and I eat at the store most times because I like my food piping hot and heated once. The portions are huge too. Me I love a huge portion of food. I really enjoy the food from here.
