About Kaieteur Kitchen Original
Caribbean Restaurant in London
Kaieteur Kitchen Original is tucked away in London, a small, friendly place that feels more like a home kitchen than a restaurant. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, thanks to the four incredibly friendly women who run the place. It's a genuinely authentic Guyanese experience; the photos online show a simple, clean space with a focus on the food, which is exactly what you get.
The menu boasts classic Guyanese dishes. They have incredible curries (the beef is a must-try!), perfectly seasoned rice, and sides like stewed pumpkin that one reviewer raved about. One photo shows a perfectly plated coconut lamb dish that looks incredibly appealing. Beyond that, they also offer fried chicken – described as unbelievably good – and a legendary pepper pot that's apparently worth a special trip.
What makes Kaieteur Kitchen stand out is the sheer love poured into each dish. The food tastes homemade, reflecting the owners' dedication and family recipes. It's the kind of place perfect for a casual weeknight dinner or a celebratory meal with friends. If you're looking for authentic Guyanese food in London and a warm, friendly atmosphere, this is your spot.

Wow! I am Guyanese from NY visiting London. My brother and I happen to both be in London at the same time for business. I have heard about the food here being good, So we decided to check this out. We were not disappointed at all. First, let me say, the four ladies who were there were very friendly and they took very good care of us, and it was the authentic Guyanese experience. I like small establishments where the atmosphere is created by the people who own and run the establishment while you are there. The food is off the chain. Hands-down, this is the best Guyanese restaurant food I have tasted in a restaurant. The flavor and the quality comes close to two of the best Guyanese cooks I know, My mother and my aunt. I had the curry beef, Spinach rice, and spinach. My brother had the coconut lamb, Spinach, trace, and the pumpkin. The meat was flavored well very tender, and the curry sauce was perfect. Seasoned rice was incredible, and the pumpkin was off the chain. We happen to be there a day when they made pepper pot. The crew next to us came there specifically for that, They heard it was legendary, And the ladies behind the counter gave us in sampling. It Was perfect and made it feel just like Christmas or New Year’s Day. So, we had to try the fried chicken. The fried chicken tasted like my grandmother fried chicken. It was Guyanese perfect. If you Guyanese, you know the fried chicken is the best fried chicken anywhere and this definitely was that. It was flavored perfectly. The pepper sauce was home made and excellent and it was a nice compliment to all of the food. I asked Fay how she made it, and she makes it with the authentic recipe ingredients. We took home a piece of the rum cake/black cake, And ate it at the hotel and it was also perfect To where you can taste that the fruits were soaked for the right amount of time. Based on the flavor of the food, I can tell there’s a lot of care and time that goes in the preparation, And the ladies working, there were a wonderful, which is what makes the food so excellent. I highly recommend Kaieteur Kitchen for anyone craving a great meal. If you, Guyanese, or West Indian And you want the home experience then you have to go!
I can't fault this place one bit. The food was excellent. This lady really knows how to cook. I celebrate my birthday there, and the owner really treated me well. I would love to go back one of these days.
Loved the food. We ordered the pork and the lamb. Both with the stewed pumpkin and rice. I think I could eat that pumpkin every day of the week for a month and I would not get tired of it. It's absolutely delicious. Both meat dishes were great. The meat was very tender and so full of flavour.
I’m Guyanese so I couldn’t wait to take my family and reminisce about home, the food and all things Guyanese 🇬🇾 Kaieteur was lovely, the restaurant, although very small was lovely and the management and staff alike. Hopefully on my return they’ll have a few more tasty desserts and pastries for us to enjoy 😉
Wow wow wow. Location is 4 minutes walk from Elephant and Castle station. The place is small but cosy. The food 5* ... pepperpot just wow with the fresh bread amazing. Fried chicken was juicy and chowmein with a twist tasted a bit of cinnamon or all spice which was delish. Food very authentic. Staff were very attentive and welcoming. Homemade mango and ginger juice was refreshing. Guyanese patties, cheese roll and pineapple tarts were flavoursome. Reasonable priced with good portion size. We came from east london but for sure Aunty Faye we will be back, need to try the cook up rice and coconut lamb🤤🤤
