About Cottons Shoreditch
Caribbean Restaurant in London
Cottons Shoreditch is tucked away in a quiet corner of Shoreditch, a welcome escape from the bustling streets. The atmosphere is relaxed and warm, with a vibrant but not overwhelming Caribbean feel. Looking through the photos online, I noticed the space features lots of natural light and plants, creating a really inviting atmosphere. It felt like a great spot for a casual dinner or a catch-up with friends.
The menu is filled with classic Caribbean dishes, given a modern twist. They have all the usual suspects – jerk chicken, curries, and rice and peas – but also some exciting, creative options. One photo shows a perfectly plated escovitch snapper that looked incredible; I wish I'd tried it! I opted for the oxtail stew, which was rich and flavourful, and the plantains were perfectly sweet.
What makes Cottons Shoreditch special is its ability to feel both authentic and accessible. It’s a place where you can enjoy delicious, high-quality Caribbean food without feeling intimidated or out of place. It's perfect for a date night, a celebratory dinner, or just a fun night out with friends. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys vibrant flavours and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.

I came here for a friend event service was very good and a great vibe and atmosphere downstairs. The rum punch is very strong. They didn’t hold back. The fritters were okay. I preferred the patties and the mutton. I had the pork ribs, the chicken wings, Ebony wings and jerk chicken but ate it too quickly to take a picture.
Very good happy hour (from 4-7pm, £12 for 241 cocktails), had the exotica which was really nice. My boyfriend enjoyed his jerk mixed grill which had pork, lamb and chicken in. My chicken in the burger was very flat and didn't have much chicken in it so that a little disappointing but the fries and plantain were good. Our server was also friendly and nice.
The staff were really nice and friendly. Portions were a great size. The vegetable brown stew tasted fantastic and the jerk platter was excellent! The food on the whole was really good, but both of us thought the rice was really dry.
As visitors from the United States, we were pleased to discover the outstanding quality of Caribbean cuisine here at Cotton. The jerk chicken egg rolls, fried dumplings, festival, plantain, and rice and peas were truly exceptional. The half jerk chicken dinner demonstrated masterful seasoning and spice blend. Our thanks to Liz for providing exceptional service as our waitress. Also, to the gentleman that gave my little ice cream. There is only one word to describe our experience scrumptious . We recommend this restaurant if you are missing a touch of home !
I went on Father’s Day with my children. We just popped in and hoped that they had a table available. They told us that we could have one for 1.5hrs. We had the Sunday roast for 2 & the lamb shank and some chicken thing. The roast for 2 was tasty but you don’t get much veg to share. We only got 3 roast potatoes of a reasonable size and 1 tiny one, 3 carrots, 3 plantains, need I go on? The lamb shank was very nice, I can’t fault it. The cocktails were ok. A little bit more alcohol would’ve been nice. I can’t say much about the service as we hardly had any. My family & I made the most of the situation and had a good time though.
