About Cottons
Caribbean Restaurant in London
Stepping into Cottons in London felt like a quick trip to the Caribbean. The atmosphere was lively, with a buzz that hinted at a fun night ahead. Looking through the photos online, I noticed the place is pretty compact, but it manages to feel warm and inviting, not cramped. It definitely has a vibrant, casual feel, perfect for a relaxed dinner.
Their menu boasts classic Caribbean dishes. I saw photos of perfectly plated curried mutton – rich and fragrant-looking – and the saltfish fritters sounded amazing. They also have a nice selection of rum punches and other tropical drinks. Based on the reviews, I’d recommend going for the brunch on Saturday if you want the full Cottons experience, though perhaps grabbing a quick bite beforehand, given some mixed opinions on the food quality.
What makes Cottons special is that it really manages to transport you. That island vibe is palpable. It's the perfect spot for a casual date night, a fun group dinner with friends, or even a lively Saturday brunch. Just keep in mind that the food quality seems to be a bit inconsistent based on the reviews, so manage expectations accordingly.

First time I went and I absolutely loved it. I went on a Wednesday and it was all cost for £6, absolute bargain. The food came out tasty and hot. And the staff all served with a smile.
Their service is terrible, food is flavourless and always late. I have been twice in the space of 2 weeks and received the same service, even after making a complaint. The staff have their own beef that they make known to the customers and bicker in front of everyone. The only thing I can say is excellent is the Saturday brunch DJ. He always brings the vibes and almost makes you forget your food is an hour late. Cannot express enough to avoid their food just nibble and drink for the brunch, grab a Tesco meal deal afterwards you will be fine. Cottons brunch has gone down hill for me The toilets … oh dear it must be the food that has people running to the toilet in this way because they are always smelly! No amount of air freshener is going to remove a stench like that if all your customers have belly ache. I’ve been there many of times to know not to eat too much just chips and rice. Meat is always pink. Staff can’t do anything about it. I’ve complained so many times but the only resolution is more rum punch. That doesn’t fix things. I recommend cottons for their Saturday brunch only and if you have eaten before hand.
My wife and I went to Cottons on the 2nd August for our anniversary, we loved the food. I had saltfish fritters for starters, it was tasty and curried mutton for the main, which was also tasty. I had a rum punch in a tall glass, it was just right with not too much ice and I also had a virgin colada which was also nice with the right amount of ice. Everything was just right!!
I wanted to start by saying that the lovely waitress that served us was great unfortunately I didn’t get her name 🥺😞( Sorry but you know who you are miss dimples!!!) I came on happy hour and got greedy with the drink lol! I gave everything 5 stars apart from the food, don’t get me wrong the food was great the drink were strong but you sadly lost a star on the festival I did not like then at all but the rest was great!
Really nice venue, situated in Vauxhall, near the river Thames. Great spot for a summer meal. There is outside seating. The environment is colourful and vibrant. The paint work on the walls reflects a Carribean vibe. Old vintage 70s reggae music is played in the background. The service from time of ordering to being served was quite long, around 1 hour. The venue was near full capacity as it was fathers Day, which might be the reason for the delay. I attended with my family, which consisted of 11 members. So large groups might contribute to a slower meal service. The food was nice and enjoyable. The signature jerk sauce was not pepper hot, you can taste the Dunns river jerk flavour, I have to say the jerk does not appear to be cooked over a smoked grill to give it the authentic Jamaican Jerk taste. The sauce was all over the food, which was overpowering, so it was difficult to taste the flavour of the meat selections. I ordered the jerk meat single Platter, which consists of a chicken wing, 1 pork rib, a chicken thigh, rice and peas, and a lamb chop. The chop was really small, but this is not the case for all meals. The pork rib was not meaty. The cost of this meal is £16,95 at the time of writing this review. I also had some of a fish Platter, which had a selection of four different fish pieces, a shrimp and squid, for £16. 95. The fish meal was lightly seasoned. These meals are also served as a combo for two at around £29.00.
It was a wonderful evening, there food was great and we got free.shots as it was.my step dad's birthday. We really felt looked after. The portion size was enough to make.me feel stuffed too.
