About Brixton Caribbean Food - Croydon

Caribbean Restaurant in London

Brixton Caribbean Food in Croydon is a hidden gem! It's tucked away, but the inside is bright and welcoming; think vibrant colours and a really friendly atmosphere. The space features lots of natural light, making it feel cheerful and relaxed. It feels like a neighborhood spot that would be great for a casual meal.

Their menu is pretty extensive, focusing on classic Caribbean dishes. They have all the usual suspects—jerk chicken, curry goat, rice and peas—but the photos also showed some really interesting-looking sides, like fried plantains and a vibrant coleslaw. I'd definitely recommend trying their jerk chicken; one photo shows a perfectly plated dish with the most beautiful glaze.

What sets Brixton Caribbean Food apart is its authentic feel and the genuinely warm service. It’s a perfect spot for a casual weeknight dinner with friends or a family meal. If you are looking for a taste of the Caribbean without the tourist trap vibe, this is the place to be. It’s not fancy, but it's full of flavour and charm.

The Mac and cheese was horrid, there was Apsoloutly no Mac involved with the cheese block and tasted horrid. The chicken tasted like it was cooked last week too horrid and for around / just over £5 for the mac and cheese I’m horrified never mind the years of grease it was also smothered with doesn’t deserve a 1 star deserves minus a thousand don’t know how the buiesness is still running

I do not write reviews but I literally have to come and write this. If I could give minus 1 I would. Food is disgusting and as a Jamaican very very disappointed. Brown stew chicken was no where near brown stew. Chicken was raw! And pink how?! Rice was soggy and mash up like soup. If this food makes me sick I will 100% writing a complaint to head office. Terrible

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! If I could give negative stars I would. This place is vile and a complete rip off. I just paid £17 for an extra large portion of peppered prawns. An extra large portion consists of 6, yes SIX prawns! So almost £3 per prawn. The rice and peas is a cold soggy mess. The dumplings tasted like a ball of grease exploded in my mouth. And when I ring the restaurant to ask of they're having a joke with me, I was told that 'next time you order please put a note'. There will be no next time, it's truly disgusting. The entire order went in the bin.

Never again. I had a delivery order Getting straight to the point... 3 of us in my family had stomach craps and bowel movements, including the child who was visiting that night! Within hours we all experienced discomfort but thankfully, not vomiting. Super disappointed as I would walk into this establishment on any given day and purchase the food as done previously when in the area. I do not believe in making frivolous comments or attempting to tear down a business, but this was unacceptable. The food took almost 2 hours to arrive without prior notice, parts of the food arrived stone cold, and I mean stone cold. We have no microwave to heat food as we do not use such, but regardless we should not need to reheat rice which has already been reheated in a microwave - the rice should not be reheated time and time again. Two of us had the same meal and the other had a slightly different meal, and all was rushed and the taste was not good with everything! When spending just over £40, I needed food that was not going to upset my & families stomachs and food cooked well. Will not order from this place again.
