About Black Spice
Caribbean Restaurant in London
Black Spice is tucked away on a quiet London street, a real find! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a cool, modern Caribbean feel. Looking through the photos online, I noticed the restaurant has a nice, open layout; it feels bright and airy, not cramped at all.
The menu is a delightful mix of traditional Caribbean dishes with some creative twists. They offer a good selection of jerk meats (I’m eyeing the goat next time!), curries, and seafood. One photo shows a perfectly plated Escovitch fish, glistening and looking incredibly fresh. I went for the oxtail stew and it was rich, flavorful, and incredibly tender.
Black Spice is a great spot for a casual dinner with friends or a romantic date night. The food is delicious and the setting is relaxed but stylish. What sets it apart is its focus on fresh, high-quality ingredients prepared with real skill. I'd happily recommend it to anyone who loves Caribbean food, or anyone looking for a delicious and unique dining experience in London.

I came here on lunch time, and thought I’d try this place after walking passed it. The shop was clean and had good music playing. The owner was obviously busy what he does best (cooking) so from the outside it looked as though the shop was left unattended. I ordered the oxtail curry with rice and peas. The food was amazing, and had more gravy than any other Caribbean food I’ve tried. Big one thing that I wasn’t too happy with was the size of the portion. I don’t know if it’s a container supplier in the area or something, as it’s the second Caribbean food I’ve tried, and the portion was the exact same. It was overpriced in my opinion too. I’m from east London and we get much bigger sized containers at a considerably cheaper price too. But the customer service and the food was amazing.
I used the restaurant for the 1st time. I had a medium portion of oxtail (no butter bean) with rice and peas, side of plantain and a pineapple drink. The portion was small. The rice and peas were tasteless. No offer of hot sauce, no conversation. Playing some nice old tunes. Overpriced for what it was.
Just got a goat curry with rice and pea amazing spiced perfectly lovely rice just really good food one of the best of head When it comes to Caribbean food this is good Highly recommend I paid £9 for a large goat curry with rice and pea
Ordered some patties from this shop! Absolutely delicious and flakey and juicy beef patties! Had this with a small glass of supermalt lol and was very nice! Will be back to order more soon!
First time trying here as my usual spot had no soup today. Man who served me was lovely but the chicken soup was very watery and bland. Could only really taste Thyme.
