About Ocho Lounge
Caribbean Restaurant in Cardiff
I just got back from Ocho Lounge in Cardiff, and it's a really cool spot. It's tucked away, so you'll need to look for it, but the atmosphere is relaxed and lively; I'd describe it as modern Caribbean with a touch of sophistication. The photos online don't fully capture the warm lighting and the really nice bar area – definitely worth checking out in person.
Their menu is focused on Caribbean classics with a modern twist. They have jerk chicken, of course, but also some interesting seafood options and some really creative takes on traditional sides. I saw a photo of a perfectly plated curried goat, which looked incredible, and I’m definitely going back to try that. They also had a great selection of cocktails—lots of rum-based drinks, naturally.
Ocho Lounge is perfect for a date night or a get-together with friends. The prices are reasonable for the quality of the food and drink, and the whole place just feels fresh and exciting, especially given it's a new restaurant. It's a welcome addition to Cardiff's dining scene and a cut above the average Caribbean restaurant; the dishes were more refined and creative than I expected.
