I just got back from New Al-Amin Foods in Cardiff, and it's a real find! It's a smaller place, tucked away, so you might need to look for it, but the inside has a really warm, friendly feel. It's nicely decorated with bright colors, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. I didn't see any photos of the space online but I felt instantly comfortable.

Their menu features a great selection of Caribbean food. They have all the classics—jerk chicken, curries, rice and peas—but also some more unusual dishes I'd love to try next time. One photo showed a perfectly plated plate of fried plantains with a delicious-looking dipping sauce; that's definitely on my list for the return trip. I opted for the oxtail stew, and it was phenomenal, tender and flavorful.

What makes New Al-Amin Foods special is that it feels genuinely authentic. It's not trying to be fancy, it's just good, honest Caribbean food served in a friendly environment. I think it would be perfect for a casual weeknight dinner, a family meal, or even grabbing takeout for a picnic. If you're craving home-style Caribbean cooking, this is the place to go.
