I just got back from checking out Yellow Yam Caribbean Take Away in Birmingham – it's a brand new spot, so I wanted to share my thoughts! It's a small takeaway place, nothing fancy, but really clean and friendly. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, perfect for grabbing a quick bite. Looking through the photos online, I noticed they have a few small tables inside if you want to eat there.
The menu is pretty straightforward – lots of classic Caribbean dishes. They’ve got jerk chicken, of course, along with curries, rice and peas, and various sides. One photo shows a perfectly plated plate of jerk chicken with vibrant red peppers, it looked delicious. I’d definitely recommend trying their roti; it seemed to be a popular choice judging by the other pictures.
Yellow Yam is great for a quick, tasty, and affordable Caribbean meal. It's perfect for a casual lunch or dinner – grab some food and head to the park, or just eat it on the go. What makes it stand out is the fresh ingredients and the friendly service. If you're craving authentic Caribbean food without the fuss and high prices, this is your place.

My daughter and I both ordered: oxtail + rice and peas + steamed vegetables for dinner last night. Everything was cooked to perfection and was flavoursome and wholesome. Will definitely be ordering from here again! Also, lovely and polite customer service on the phone. Thankyou! ❤️🥰
My first time here, the service was great and very welcoming. The veg soup was great, the fried fish was on point, I tasted the seasoning and this differently wasn't a one water wash. The chicken foot soup had too much pepper aside from that I will be going back again.
Wow wow wowwwww! First time here and it will certainly not be our last! Everything was so sooooo good! My daughter even said, "I need to meet the cook!" 🤣🙌🏿 We had a selection of items and everything and I mean EVERYTHING was on point! The way my daughter threw herself back when she bit into her festival 🤣 The mutton....the meat literally fell off the bone. Our food was still hot when it arrived. Superb, money well spent! We have enough food leftover for dinner for tomorrow which means no cooking for me, BONUS! Definitely will be ordering from here again. Also, a big shout out to the delivery driver who was super friendly with a big lovely smile! Great drop off from him. Thanks again all!
The oxtail and rice is NOT the one as there was no flavour for me and plus hardly any oxtail provided which is a shame. You paying more for rice than anything (I did have high hopes based on the reviews). I can say the dumpling and patties were good though
1st time there. Shop is okay. Little table to sit in. Best to take out. Awesome Caribbean food. Halal also. Definitely worth going to eat from them. The meat is soo tender is slips straight off the bone. Awesomeness
