So I went to Y Dee's Jamaican Diner in Birmingham the other day. It's a pretty unassuming spot, nothing fancy, but it has a nice, casual vibe. The place is clean and friendly, and from what I could tell from online photos, it's small but cozy, maybe good for a quick lunch or dinner.
The menu is pretty extensive for a smaller place; they've got all the Jamaican classics. I saw photos of jerk chicken that looked amazing – juicy and flavorful, and they also had curried goat, rice and peas, and all the sides you'd expect. I'd definitely recommend checking out their jerk chicken; it seems to be a popular choice.
Y Dee's is perfect for a no-frills, tasty Jamaican meal. It's not a place for a special occasion dinner, but more of a spot to grab some great, authentic food. From what I gathered, consistency can be a bit of an issue judging by the reviews, but if you get a good batch of food, it seems worth it for the price. I think students or people working nearby would really appreciate it.

Friday afternoon 3pm ordered what can only be described as a banquet! The food was excellent and was delivered to my doorstep piping hot within 1hr from Dudley to Stourbridge, the lady who delivered it was courteous and very friendly. Dee’s was recommended to me by my good friend Del Sampson and he was bang on the money with this one!! We had Curry Mutton/ White Rice Fried Chicken/White Rice Jerk Lamb Chops/Hard Food Saltfish Fritters Everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection Keep up the good tasty work Dee’s!!
Ordered off Just eat for delivery. 30+mins later than the given time. Chicken was dry like it had been cooked from day/s before and Reheated. Portions are quite small considering the price . Used to order off this same shop before, having changed the name a few times. The Deliveryman service was bad then and looks like they have done nothing to try to improve on it !!!! For the food, The Price, and The Delivery...... Not worth the bother !!!
Bigger selection on the menu than most Caribbean places, served fast and correct. Everything ordered was spot on.
Unfortunately I didn't get to try the food which was due to the ignorant and rude person serving. Zero customer service, food could be lovely but I wouldn't give a penny to that place down to that.
After looking up where to get good food on Google in Dudley, Y Dee's was the first to pop up so I decided to eat there. I must say I was not disappointed. Very tasty food, atmosphere was really nice and clean and the Guinness Punch, amazing 👏. Speacial mention, Tieeshai, lovely customer service.
One of the few Jamaican restaurants I am.hapoy to return to on a regular basis. The food is always top notch!
