About Tru Spice Caribbean Kitchen
Caribbean Restaurant in Birmingham
Tru Spice Caribbean Kitchen in Birmingham is a charming little spot, tucked away but well worth finding. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, with a warm, inviting feel that makes you instantly comfortable. The photos online showed bright, colourful walls and some lovely artwork, giving the place a real sense of character. It felt genuinely welcoming, not overly fussy or pretentious.
Their menu is focused on classic Caribbean dishes, but with a fresh, modern twist. They’ve got all the usual suspects – jerk chicken, curries, and rice and peas – but also some interesting specials that change regularly. One photo showed a perfectly plated plate of kingfish with a vibrant mango salsa, which looked absolutely delicious. I’d definitely recommend checking out their daily specials; they looked very tempting.
What sets Tru Spice apart is that genuine warmth and the feeling of home-cooked food elevated. It’s the kind of place perfect for a casual weeknight dinner with friends, or a relaxed family meal. It's not flashy or expensive, but it delivers amazing flavour and a really pleasant experience. If you're looking for authentic Caribbean food in a friendly, unpretentious atmosphere, this is definitely the place to go.

Great food whether you stay in or take it away. I've never been disappointed with the food I buy from here. Music is played all day (sometimes a little bit too loud) but nice nonetheless. Friendly staff, give you time to look at the menu if you can't make your mind up. Decent portions. Sweet food. I plan to keep returning to eat here, and I also recommend to people I know.
Amazing Afro Caribbean food I had jerk chicken with rice and peas with freshly baked Mac and cheese highly recommended great service and hospitality from the owner definitely I must try 👌🏾💯
The lady on till is always giving her best service to customers. The food is okay not the best jerk chicken I have to say but it's better then some places I've been to. I like the size for the price it's very good I like they put the plantain on the side most Jamaican restaurants don't do that nowadays in the UK.
I called through an order on the phone for collection. When i got there, the order was ready. I added on a box of chips and another meal - they placed the chips in the bag but not the large meal costing £13.00 in the bag. Once I had left the premises and was on the way back to Kings Heath with the order on the bus. Which took 15 mins to come (why did they take so long to realise about my order). I asked if they could refund my order and they said no that they cannot refund the order. They have said I could pick the order up later or tomoro... so does that mean they will just put it in the fridge and not even prepare a fresh order. I told her to keep the order. I'm not happy with the service - they should have made sure it was all done properly
I'm very disappointed with the lack of customer service at this shop. Although the food here is nice and relatively fair priced; the lady behind the counter is somewhat rude. Not sure if she has other issues, but customer care could be better.
