About Troy's Tasty Caribbean Takeaway
Caribbean Restaurant in Birmingham
Troy's Tasty Caribbean Takeaway in Birmingham is a small, bright spot tucked away – I’d recommend checking their opening hours as they seem to operate on a slightly flexible schedule. The atmosphere is casual and friendly, perfect for a quick lunch or takeaway. Looking through the photos online, I noticed the space is clean and simple, focusing more on the food than fancy decor.
Their menu is pretty straightforward, offering all the Caribbean classics you’d expect. Jerk chicken and goat curry were definitely highlights, along with a vibrant-looking rice and peas dish I saw in one photo. I’d recommend trying their plantains – they looked perfectly caramelized. They also have a selection of patties and sides.
Troy's is great for a relaxed, satisfying meal, especially if you're craving authentic Caribbean flavors without the fuss. It's ideal for a quick weeknight dinner or a casual lunch with friends. What sets it apart is the fresh, home-style feel – the food really tastes like someone’s lovingly prepared it, and that's always a win.

Been going here for a while and sadly today I can’t share good feedback. First off food is usually fantastic however Peppered prawns wayyyyyyyyyy too salty…. Then don’t even get me started on the behaviour of the lady serving, think she’s co-owner not sure but she’s got zero customer service skills…. Gone are the days where people have to put up with such behaviour, there’s so many other options of places now, places who actually understand what Good Customer service looks like. Troy, you are an excellent chef but that lady will run your customers away. Can’t believe she actually thinks it’s ok to reprimand staff in front of customers. Please take this feedback as an opportunity to learn or watch your business go downhill.
Great Caribbean takeaway! I had food here the other day. We decided to go for the large chicken jerk and chicken stew. The food was superb. The portions were huge and we finished them so I can say it was good quality. I'd go again if I'm around Wolverhampton.
I had a steamed fish meal last Friday and it was the best steamed fish I have ever had, and I've had a few. The okra, the coconut juices, the melt in your mouth fish. It was a bundle of deliciousness, and I can't wait to rinse and repeat👌🏽
I always order my takeaway from Troy’s and tbh it’s always the best ever but lately the last few orders which have always been oxtail on its own has been very hot of pepper… of course this adds to the flavour which is perfectly normal for carribean food but I think now it’s overriding the actual taste and now there appears to be more bones in the portion size more than ever. Decided to switch up a little and go for the curry goat last time and unfortunately to my despair was even more hot of pepper than the oxtail I had purchased previously. Such a disappointment.
Quality! Has a very big menu with all choices and changing specials, lovely polite service and well priced for portion sizes. The food is very tasty and good quality, can get busy with not much floorspace inside but well worth the wait, on street parking is available but can get very crowded, Overall 10/10 would highly recommend Best Caribbean food in Wolverhampton.
