About Mellow's Bar & Restaurant
Caribbean Restaurant in Birmingham
Walking into Mellow's Bar & Restaurant in Birmingham felt like stepping into a vibrant Caribbean escape. The decor is fantastic – warm colours, maybe some reggae playing softly in the background (I can't recall for certain), and a generally happy atmosphere. It's clearly a popular spot; even though I went on a Sunday, there was a good buzz.
Their menu is packed with classic Caribbean dishes. They have jerk chicken, curries, rice and peas (which, according to some reviews, could be hotter!), and other favorites. One photo I saw online showed a perfectly plated platter of fried fish; that looks incredible. I opted for the Sunday roast (a bit of an unusual choice, I know!) and was blown away by how good it was – truly authentic flavors and generous portions.
Mellow's is the perfect place for a relaxed get-together with friends or family, especially if you're craving delicious Caribbean food. The good reviews mostly mention the amazing food and friendly service, which is always a win. While some have noted minor service hiccups, the overall experience seems overwhelmingly positive. It's definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for something different and tasty.

I came here for the Sunday roast and was really impressed with the authenticity of the food, and the portion sizes. The only let down was that the oxtail wasn't ready when we were ordering our food - we were told it would be an hour's wait and so we had to choose other items from the menu. The decor is great and the music added to the ambience. Staff were attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend Mellows!
Went there for my birthday with 7 other family members. The service was good. The staff was nice very welcoming and friendly. The food was lovely although the temperatures of my rice and peas was not hot enough for me. All and all it was nice. Thank you.
Food was amazing but the service was poor. Portion sizes, flavour and presentation of the food was great but overall it was slightly let down but the service. After clearing our dinner plates, the server immediately brought the bill without asking if we wanted anything else - dessert or more drinks. It seemed like she was rushing us to get out which didn't feel nice. Customer service is so important and the little things like a smile goes a long way.
The best Caribbean restaurant I have been too. We traveled from London and was well worth the trip indeed. I liked that the Sunday roast menu was limited but had a great selection. The non alcoholic drinks were so good too.
Came here for some Sunday brunch with my mom and a friend. I’ve been here before but it had been a few years. I was happy with the atmosphere of the restaurant, however the music was a little too loud. I would have liked if it was turned down a little as it was hard to have conversations at the table. The food was absolutely delicious as usual, there was nothing to fault with the meal that we had, there was variety and everything was hot and seasoned perfectly. I ordered the fruit punch to drink, it was lovely I will be coming back.
