About King's Kitchen

Caribbean Restaurant in Birmingham

King's Kitchen, Birmingham's newest Caribbean spot, is tucked away on a quiet street—a bit of a hidden gem, actually. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with colourful artwork adorning the walls and reggae music playing softly in the background. It felt really relaxed and friendly, perfect for a casual meal.

Their menu boasts a good range of traditional Caribbean dishes, with plenty of jerk options. I noticed a photo of their oxtail stew – it looked incredibly rich and tender. They also offer a variety of sides, and from what I saw in the photos, the plantains looked delicious and perfectly caramelized. I'd definitely recommend checking out their specials board, as they seem to rotate through seasonal options.

What makes King's Kitchen special is its genuine, welcoming vibe and the clear passion for food. It's the kind of place perfect for a weeknight dinner with friends or a relaxed weekend lunch. It's not flashy or pretentious; it just serves up really tasty Caribbean food in a comfortable setting. I think anyone who appreciates home-style Caribbean cooking would love it.

£7.50 for "extra large" vegan rice and peas is a joke. Especially as their extra large portion is nowhere near what you would expect compared to other Caribbean restaurants

I try to keep most my reviews on the positive side when doing them but It will be hard on this one. The 1st time I had here I had jerk chicken, rice and peas and steamed veg. Definitely not the best jerk chicken I’ve had but wasn’t the worst either. It was dry even with the jerk sauce over it and the rice and peas abit on the wet side and bland. The 2nd time I’ve had mutton, white rice and steamed veg. The mutton was dry and extremely oily!! The rice was poor and the veg were okay but how hard is it to get that wrong? Customer service extremely bad in there like he wants to lose potential customers. Won’t be going back anytime soon.
