So I finally checked out Blue Marlin in Birmingham, a brand new Caribbean spot. It's tucked away on a side street, so it’s got a really intimate, almost hidden-gem feel. The space is nicely decorated; it's bright and airy with colourful artwork that gives off a cheerful, relaxed vibe. Looking through the photos online, I noticed they have some really nice outdoor seating too, perfect for warmer weather.

The menu is pretty extensive, offering a good mix of classic Caribbean dishes and some interesting twists. They’ve got all the usual suspects – jerk chicken, curries, rice and peas – but also some more unique options that I’m keen to try next time. One photo showed a perfectly plated escovitch fish that looked incredible. I went for the roti, and it was fantastic – tender, flavourful, and very generous portions.

What makes Blue Marlin special is its genuine feel. It's not trying too hard; it just feels authentic and welcoming. It'd be great for a casual dinner with friends, a romantic date night, or even a family gathering. If you're craving delicious, comforting Caribbean food in a relaxed atmosphere, it's definitely worth a visit. You'll leave feeling full and happy.
