About Biggapot
Caribbean Restaurant in Birmingham
I just got back from this new Caribbean place in Birmingham called Biggapot – it's really cute! It's in a smaller space, kind of cozy and informal, with a really bright and cheerful atmosphere. The photos online show lots of colourful artwork on the walls and some lovely plants – it all feels really welcoming and relaxed, not stuffy at all.
The menu is pretty straightforward, focusing on classic Caribbean dishes. They have jerk chicken, of course, but also curries, stews, and some really interesting sides. One photo shows a perfectly plated plate of fried plantains alongside a vibrant looking fish curry. I’d definitely recommend trying their oxtail stew—it looked amazing, and I heard great things from other diners.
Biggapot is perfect for a casual weeknight dinner or a relaxed weekend get-together with friends. It’s the kind of place where you can just unwind and enjoy good food and company without feeling like you have to dress up or be super formal. What sets it apart is the homey vibe—it felt very authentic, not some tourist trap pretending to be Caribbean. I think anyone who loves hearty, flavorful food and a friendly atmosphere would really enjoy it.

During these unprecedented times, I think you are doing a grand job. Curry mutton was so good, meat fell straight off the bone. Rice and peas delicious and served hot! Finally the customer service I recieved was second to none. I'll be visiting again soon. Thank you
I've used here a few times. I won't say it's mind blowing but I will say the majority of the reviews on here ar harsh! It's an inviting clean and presentable shop. I find the pricing to be more than reasonable and the food is good. On my latest visit I ordered a fish tea which was nice and not overly salted like a lot of fish teas I've tasted, I was even given a complementary dumpling for my long wait! They also do a strawberry chicken dish which sounds crazy... And thats bcoz it is crazy!! 👍 a solid 7.5 out of 10.
Good clean service. Food to a high standard. Tasty and delicious. Best food on the road by far. Also halal so caters for a wider variety of people. 5 star. Always shown before you leave the door. Something not every Caribbean shop does
Taste nothing like Caribbean food yet it's suppose to be a Jamaican take away.. I am a Jamaican myself therefore I know what real Jamaican / Caribbean food should taste like and what I had isn't Jamaican food at all, the chicken and dumplings had no flavour. This isn't a true representation of real Caribbean / Jamaican food. Very disappointed!
.Water Down Chicken Soup at Biiggapot 15 College RD Handsworth I rang up for a chicken soup when I got there it was a Asian woman won't serve me. Just peak out from the kitchens never come to the counter. next minute I think was owner came out black man from out side ask me have you been served? I reply yes I have just Waiting for my Chicken soup. Wow!! when I tasted the chicken soup. It didn't had no taste, no flavour no spices it's was like hot water with chicken bones I called the geezer back I told him is no taste it like water no flavour not spice and the man just sit down watched tv and just trying to blank me out when I start to raise my voice I told him that it doesn't taste like soup. In the end he gave me my money back. Never again not to buy anything from the shop this is the bad experience I had.
