About Ah Ya So Nice - Authentic Caribbean Cuisine

Caribbean Restaurant in Birmingham

Stepping into Ah Ya So Nice in Birmingham felt like a mini-vacation. The restaurant itself is small, and while the exterior could use a little brightening up, the inside is clean and welcoming. The kitchen area gleamed, which immediately put me at ease. The overall vibe is casual and friendly—perfect for a relaxed weeknight dinner or a casual weekend lunch.

The menu features all the Caribbean classics. I sampled the jerk chicken and curry mutton from their mixed meal option – both incredibly tender and flavorful – served with rice and peas and steamed vegetables. They also offer oxtail, fried dumplings, and a variety of other dishes. From what I saw, the portions are generous, and the food is beautifully presented; one photo showed a perfectly plated dish of vibrant colors. I also tried their Guinness punch and sorrel, which were both refreshing and delicious.

What makes Ah Ya So Nice truly special is the genuinely warm hospitality. The owner's friendly smile and willingness to offer samples made the entire experience delightful. The consistent rave reviews about the food and customer service speak volumes. This place is ideal for anyone craving authentic Caribbean flavors in a laid-back atmosphere, perfect for a family meal, a casual date night, or even grabbing takeout. It's the kind of spot where you feel instantly comfortable and leave with a full belly and a happy heart.

I have tasted the mixed meal (jerk chicken, oxtail, rice and peas, with steamed veg). I’ve also had fried dumplings, curry mutton and rice; Guinness punch; sorrel; macaroni cheese. ALL of the dishes consistently taste DELICIOUS! I have ordered and had the meals as a takeaway. The customer care at Ah Ya So Nice is exemplary, and the delivery man provides the same quality of as the service I experience in the restaurant. I strongly recommend Ah Ya So Nice for your Caribbean cuisine.

We came here for some authentic Caribbean food to try, we tried the mixed meal which you choose 2 mains essentially, we ordered jerk chicken and curry mutton, served on (we chose) rice and beans and steamed veg. This cost £14 and there was plenty for 2. The flavours were really good, the meat was really soft, and all in all we enjoyed it. The only minor criticism was the amount of bones we had, we did still get a good amount of meat but just lots of bones also in our portion. Would recommend to try Caribbean cuisine, and would try again if in the area. The lady who served us was really friendly, she gave us samples of various dishes to try to help make our decision!

1at and foremost, lovely owner with a lovely accent and smile 5*. Mutton Stew 5* Jerk dinner 5* Mutton dinner 4*- too salty for me but that's my personal taste as I do not eat salt. Oxtail dinner-4* gravy too watery for me but again that's my personal taste. Salt fish fritters 5* My son would give 5 * all the way through, like I said my own personal taste and she cannot please everyone. Would I come here again, hell YES. Decor in shop front needs brightening up, not very inviting. The kitchen area is spotless from what you can see, the metal work is gleaming. Lovely place with a lovely owner highly recommended. X

Hands down truly amazing food. 1st trying this Caribbean shop after moving to the area this the best around.. Highly recommended The woman that Runs/Works there was so nice and friendly. 11/10

I was passing by and thought I'd give it a try, and I'm so glad I did! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with absolutely great customer service. I decided to go with the curry and rice, along with the jerk chicken and rice, both recommended by the lovely staff. I have to say, the food was incredibly tasty and fresh, and I was even treated to some extra goodies, including dumplings. Definitely a place worth coming back to!

So l tried this place for the first time and purchased the fries and jerk chicken. I have to say the chicken was tender falls of the bone and the sauce sweet but spicy and tasted really nice. Value for money and portion was enough for one person.
