About The Chippy
Caribbean Restaurant in Belfast
So I checked out this new Caribbean place in Belfast called The Chippy. It's a small, friendly spot, really relaxed and informal. The photos online showed a bright, colorful interior – think sunshine yellow and turquoise – and that’s exactly what it was like in person. It felt really welcoming, the kind of place you could easily spend a couple of hours chatting over dinner.
The menu is fairly straightforward, focusing on classic Caribbean dishes. They had jerk chicken, of course, and some tasty-looking curries. One photo showed a perfectly plated plate of callaloo, which looked incredible. I went for the fish fritters, which were light and crispy, and absolutely delicious. I'd definitely recommend trying their rum punch too; it was the perfect complement to the food.
What makes The Chippy special is its genuine, homely atmosphere. It's not trying to be fancy; it just wants to serve good food in a comfortable setting. It would be great for a casual dinner with friends or a relaxed family meal. It's a welcome addition to the Belfast food scene, offering something a bit different from the usual fare.
